Lego

From a young age I was heavily into Lego, quite often raiding my brother’s older Lego pieces because I always need one small block to finish my creations. This is where my love of building and making things grew from.

Even now as a young adult I still break out my Lego sets as a way of relaxing and taking a break or if I’m feeling creative.

As I matured I found the same refuge in city builder games that I did in building Lego sets when I was younger.

Travelling

From a young age I have traveled extensively, visiting places such as USA, Canada, India, the Middle east, Iceland and Africa.

In April 2014, I spent two weeks volunteering in Swaziland. I worked on a building project which aimed to build basic but safe houses and schools for OVC's (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children). The whole trip was an amazing experience and the feeling of having helped a child gain access to a better education.

Because of my passion and interest in Japanese culture and architecture, I visited Japan with a friend in June 2018 for a two weeks. The first week of this trip was spent in Tokyo then we took the Shinkansen to Kyoto for a few days after which we went back to Tokyo for the remainder of the trip.

Japanese culture

My love of Japanese culture has been called an obsession by many. It all started when I was 13 and one of my friends brought in some manga to school, after reading a few chapters I was hooked.

Fast forward to my mid twenties and this interest in manga has evolved into a love and respect of Japanese culture as whole from music, TV, art and architecture to the history, language and the beautiful scenery seen throughout the country.

I also enjoy the strange side of Japanese culture from the canned coffee adverts featuring Tommy Lee Jones and a talking dog to metal idol bands like BABYMETAL.
